Human Refractive Index ✨💎 . This installation is inspired by the phenomenon of Refractive index …. In physics , every material bends light differently, I kind of believe humans do the same. Each of us refract the world in our own way…. Splitting into a spectrum of feelings, memory , identity and perception . Simply by existing , we alter the atmosphere around us, we bend reality in ways we may never fully see….. yet ✨
This short installation video imagines refraction not as a laboratory phenomenon but as an emotional environment. In a towering dark chamber, countless rectangular fragments of prismatic light hover in the air while a strong blue shaft of illumination descends into the center of the room. Human silhouettes stand quietly within the space, becoming small witnesses inside a field of split light and shifting color.
The composition is powerful because it balances order and overwhelm. The central blue column gives the room structure, almost like a spiritual axis, while the surrounding floating fragments scatter color unpredictably across the walls and floor. The silhouettes do not dominate the frame; instead, they measure the scale of the phenomenon and suggest that each person is being altered by the light around them.
What makes the piece memorable is its metaphorical clarity. Refraction usually describes how light bends through material, but here that idea becomes a portrait of human perception itself. The installation feels like a physical expression of memory, identity, and atmosphere, showing how people do not merely occupy space, but transform it through the way they bend and scatter meaning.
